Weather

By choosing an Algarve golf property or a holiday apartment in the Algarve you can benefit from a superb climate all year round. The Algarve is in southern Portugal and so has a warm southern Mediterranean climate with long summers and a short winter. The Algarve as a whole has over 3000 hours of sunshine a year and benefits from the warm winds from North Africa.

Being a coastal region, the area benefits from a mild climate all year round. In summer the seas breezes help to prevent temperatures from reaching unpleasant levels.

Taxis

Taxis here in the Algarve cannot usually be stopped in the street. You can get a cab ordered from Customer Services at Vila Sol, or from the Vila Sol Hotel. For your return you can get a cab from one of the many taxi ranks, or you can order one from the bar, restaurant or place that you are in.

It is advisable to make sure that you agree on a price before you set off on your journey. Usually the fares are reasonable.

Buses

There are local buses that can take you to most places in the Algarve. There are main bus terminals in Quarteira, Albufeira, Lagos and Portinos. If you want to cross a few resorts, you will need to change at one of these main terminals.

The cost is approx 6 euros on a bus from Albufeira to Portinos which takes around 90 minutes.

Trains

The train in Algarve only takes you from the border of Spain to Lagos or up to Lisbon. The cost is usually very reasonable, although sometimes they can be old and take a little more time.

The main stations in the Algarve are Vila Real St Antonio on the border of Spain, Faro the capital of the Algarve and Portimoo which is on the west coast.

You may find other stations around but they will not have taxis or bus stations around to help you get back to your accommodation.
